- 14:30 - 15:45: Workshops Session #1
- Git Basics (E-501), by Alexandru Cirlan, Beginner Level.
- A VCS (Version Control System), such as "git", is a tool to allows programmers to save their work and be able to revert to it easily, as well as make modification, and collaborate on the same software project without interference and errors. Git is a modern VCS, commonly used in open-source projects due to its simplicity and ease of use. The workshop aims at teaching you the basics of git, so you can use it in your future projects.
- No skills required.
- Build Your Web Portfolio (Library), by Giuliana Bouzon, Beginner Level, Personal Laptop RECOMMENDED.
- In this workshop you'll learn about different FLOSS tools to build a website, and some strategies to package and deploy your website on the Internet.
- Desired skills (but not required):
- Basic git experience.
- Basic coding knowledge.
- Some web development knowledge (basic html, css, js, json).
- Docker (Library), by Andrei Popescu, Intermediate Level, Personal Laptop with Linux Installed REQUIRED.
- In this workshop you'll learn the basics about containers and Docker, and be ready to build, share and deploy your applications inside containers.
- Basic terminal experience REQUIRED.
- Basic git and server management (devops) understanding RECOMMENDED.

- Demo and discussion about useful tools for students and teachers, as well as planning assignments based on FLOSS methodologies.
- No skills required, target at those interested in pedagogical tools.

- Flipper Zero/One, by Kais Rafie, Beginner Level.
- Discover the world of hacking and penetration testing. In this workshop you will learn about a tool all hackers know and use! The Flipper Zero, is a hacking tool that introduces you and guides you into the hacking world. You will learn about IR signals, SubGigHz, GPIO and arduino, and wifi hacking! All you need is a minimal laptop to participate and intereset!
- No skills required. A laptop is essential only for practical participation. Though, no laptop is required for this workshop.
- Debian Women meets Vanier Girls (Library), by Tassia Araujo, Beginner Level.
- Short intro to Debian & Debian Women, meet-up with girls at Vanier, discussion about women in tech, safe spaces and allies.
- No skills required, targeted at those who identify themselves as women.
- Introduction to Data Science with Python, by Tiago Vaz, Beginner Level, Personal Laptop RECOMMENDED.
- In this workshop, we will learn how to work with real-world datasets using the Python programming language. By manipulating large amounts of data, you will gain an understanding of the basic workflow of scientific application development: obtaining, transforming, visualising and interpreting data. Popular modules such as NumPy and Matplotlib will be introduced, and participants will be able to select a dataset of interest to work with. We will also explore the open-source IDE Spyder, which is specifically developed for scientific programming.
- No skills required. Although this is an introductory workshop, a basic knowledge of programming is DESIRABLE. Complete beginners can still attend as observers. Please bring a laptop for this lab.
